This time too Virat Kohli did not work out and gave the edge of the bat to the offside delivery
After both the openers got out early, Shubman Gill also got caught at first slip in an attempt to pursue a good length delivery by Nathan Lyon. Virat Kohli also got caught at slip on a score of zero but the delivery was touching the ground from Steve Smith‘s hand due to which Virat Kohli got a lifeline in the beginning. Virat Kohli was seen struggling in this innings and after playing 69 balls, due to his weakness, he gave the edge of his bat to a good length delivery by Scott Boland kept in the offside and got out on consecutive offside deliveries.

Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja struggled
After Team India lost four wickets on good runs, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja did not let the Australian bowlers take wickets. They shared a partnership of 48 runs. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant went ahead and hit a six on the ball of Beau Webster, the all-rounder who was making his debut in the Test match. After the top order and middle order collapsed, in the lower order, Washington Sundar took the score forward by hitting three consecutive fours and wicketkeeper Alex Carey got caught short on Pat Cummins‘ ball. Australia also had a bad start
